WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana Fever have selected Caitlin Clark with the first overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft. Clark, a 6-foot-1 guard from West Des Moines, Iowa, is a two-time consensus All-American and the 2021 Big Ten Player of the Year. She averaged 20.8 points, 8.1 assists and 8.0 rebounds per game for the Iowa Hawkeyes last season. Clark is the first player in NCAA history to record 2,000 points, 1,000 assists and 1,000 rebounds in her career. She is also the only player in Big Ten history to lead the conference in scoring and assists in the same season. “Caitlin is a special player who has the potential to be a star in the WNBA,” Fever head coach Marianne Stanley said. “She is a gifted scorer, passer and rebounder, and she has a great basketball IQ. We are excited to have her join our team.” Clark is expected to make her WNBA debut on May 6 when the Fever open the season at home against the Chicago Sky.
